INDIANAPOLIS (July 16, 2025) – The WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee is teaming up with Project Period Indy and Indy Hygiene Hub to address a need facing thousands of Hoosiers: access to menstrual health products.
With generous support from Procter & Gamble, the partnership will result in the assembly and distribution of 25,000 “Period Packs” to benefit individuals experiencing period poverty across Central Indiana.
To activate community support and foster meaningful impact, about 800 volunteers will help assemble hygiene essentials into Period Packs on Thursday, July 17 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, ahead of WNBA All-Star set for Friday and Saturday. Anyone interested in volunteering from 9-11 a.m. at IMS can learn more and still sign up at indianasportscorp.org/volunteer.
“The WNBA All-Star platform gives us the opportunity to celebrate excellence on the court while driving meaningful change off it,” said Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO and WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee Founding Chair Mel Raines. “There’s a real need for greater access, awareness and support around issues that impact women and families, and we’re incredibly grateful to Procter & Gamble, and our local partners and volunteers for stepping up in such a generous way.”
This large-scale community service initiative is being held in conjunction with the WNBA’s annual Changemakers event, an event committed to advancing, elevating and economically empowering underrepresented groups through the power of sport.
The initiative is led by two local organizations championing access for all: Project Period Indy and Indy Hygiene Hub. With their support, it is estimated that 25,000 Period Packs will provide a year’s supply of menstrual health products to Hoosiers they serve.
“This partnership with the WNBA All-Star Host Committee gives visibility to an often overlooked issue—period poverty,” said Angie Katinas, founder of Project Period Indy. “One in four individuals struggles to afford period products, and this effort helps bridge that gap. Together, we’re not only meeting a critical need but empowering volunteers to be part of a solution that will impact lives throughout Indiana.”
“Indy Hygiene Hub is honored to partner with the WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee for this historic moment in our city,” said Christina Huffines, founder and CEO of Indy Hygiene Hub. “This partnership helps bring much-needed attention to hygiene equity and the quiet struggles many Hoosiers face every day. Together, we’re turning the spotlight on these often-unseen barriers and offering hope and dignity through access to basic hygiene essentials.”
WNBA All-Star 2025 will take place July 18-19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Fever. For more information, visit wnbaallstar2025.com.
